Here’s our latest achievement over at Figment. An Augmented Reality app that we developed for Audi’s A4 ad campaign of March 2016. The app is called EmocionesA4 and it was targeted at the Mexican market. They were made for both iOS and Android platforms thanks to Adobe AIR. The graphics run on the GPU thanks to Starling and Away3D and the Augmented Reality experience was made posible using the IN2AR engine. It consists of 3 different AR experiences that users can interact with by simply scanning any of the 3 different Audi ads that were printed in many luxury lifestyle magazines.
The first experience in the video is the lights experience, which follow you if you move the camera to either left or right side of the ad, and you can also turned them on and off by pressing the lights button on the right. This one is showcasing the actual car lights’ ability to rotate, specially when driving on curves.
The second experience in the video is the concert experience, which is referencing the really nice sound system that’s installed on the car. For this one we used a looped video that you can mute or unmute by pressing the speaker button on the right. The button on this one used to work differently, if you pressed the button it would open Spotify if you had the app installed and it would show you a playlist. If you didn’t have Spotify installed, it would open Spotify’s web-app on the browser. Audi changed their mind for copyright reasons.
Anyways, the third experience in the video is an animated dashboard that you can control by pressing the gas button on the right. This one is referencing the car’s digital dashboard that can display all kinds of info, including maps and sound controls, it’s pretty cool actually.
This was a real team effort, no question about it, but I’m personally proud of this project because it was the first time we developed an Augmented Reality app and I was the lead developer working on it.
